Vote Susan Renda for Mayor September 6th, 2007!

WHY MORELAND HILLS NEEDS CHANGE:

Attention Moreland Hills Residents: It’s time to speak up and tell the mayor to stop LIVING ON PROMISES FROM 1999!

While our mayor continues to live on out-dated promises and rest on his laurels, our Village is being underserved and jeopardized by his culture of disrespect.

You deserve a mayor who has the vision, leadership, humility and work ethic to deliver results back to the Village. As mayor, I will focus on improving our community by:

  • Responsibly managing your tax dollars

  • Repairing fractured relationships with surrounding communities

  • Repairing fractured relationship with Village council members

  • Focusing on the issues that matter to YOU

    • Preservation of rural charm

    • Strong fiscal management

    • Public safety

    • Open and honest communication

Why Moreland Hills Needs a Change

One only has to look at his promises from 1999 to understand how out-dated and detrimental his approach is affecting our Village.

PROMISES MADE – PROMISES KEPT??????

Campaign Promises Made in 1999* by Mayor DeGross that he continues to make TODAY!

  • Maximum Value for Your Tax Dollars

    • The current mayor has more than doubled his salary while missing important meetings that affect our Village’s safety

      • Councilman Ted Buczek said, “The safety director’s position was created to increase the pay for Mr. DeGross.”  - Chagrin Valley Times April 15, 2007

      • Critical meetings where DeGross chose not to be present:

        • January 20, 2007: The Chagrin Valley Intergovernmental Council met to discuss regional safety issues. Although Moreland Hills hosted this event,
Mayor DeGross chose not to attend.

        • May 5, 2007: Fire Summit at Orange Village Hall

        • May 21, 2007: Meeting between Chief Leffler and Orange Mayor Kathy Mulcahy where a temporary fire and EMS agreement was crafted

  • Non-confrontational Leadership

    • For the last four years, our mayor has operated in a culture of disrespect. He has damaged important relationships with Village council members and
alienated the mayors of surrounding communities

    • He has shown contempt toward residents, property owners and developers

    • His hostile and irresponsible actions have put him and our Village on the front page news causing embarrassment and damaging important relationships

As mayor, I will work with surrounding community leaders, school leaders and Village council members to repair fractured relationships and deliver
positive results back to our Village.

            PENNY WISE – POUND FOOLISH

    • The funds generated from the fire levy are not being used to improve and coordinate our safety services

    • We must ensure our police officers and service department personnel have all the equipment needed to do the best job possible and keep Village residents safe

    • I have worked hard and invested significant resources to protect green space in our Village. Yet, the current mayor did not fund the infrastructure improvements
that were desperately needed, which led to sewage spilling into Willey Creek

    • As mayor, I will ensure the Village establishes and enforces a plan to handle environmental issues and concerns

I strongly disagree with the idea of taking your tax dollars away from you and then telling you that someday our Village will do something with the funds.
YOU ARE BEING TAXED AND NOT GETTING THE FULL BENEFIT FROM THOSE FUNDS.
As mayor, I will ensure your tax dollars provide you with the
excellent services and efficient municipal government you expect.

  • Be Proactive with Outreach to Residents

    • Our Village needs to communicate openly and honestly with the residents and include them in the planning process

    • We need to diversify our staff and work with the residents who want to make our Village better

I have the vision and experience needed to lead our city forward. I understand the issues that matter most to you and the issues that matter most TODAY!
Our Village needs a change, and I would appreciate a vote for Susan Renda on November 6.
